MGP Ingredients, Inc.

Located in Atchison, Kansas, USA, MGP Ingredients upgraded their distillation and dehydration systems in a series of projects from 2000 to 2003. The plant originally was made up of two distillation trains and one small ethanol dehydration unit that produced about 30 million gallons per year of beverage grade ethanol plus a small amount of motor fuel grade ethanol.

The KATZEN distillation system consists of a single distillation train which includes pressurized distillation towers. Thus, the steam consumption per gallon of finished product decreased as compared to the original system. In addition to beverage grade ethanol, the production of motor fuel grade ethanol was expanded utilizing molecular sieve technology and the capability to produce anhydrous pharmaceutical grade ethanol was added.
